How to sell your home during the holidays
If your home is on the market during the holidays should you decorate……YES! It’s the holidays, you can’t stop living. Do keep in mind though, less is best. Maybe go with a smaller tree and lose the train at the bottom. Remove furniture instead of trying to keep everything you had in the same space. You have to enjoy the season, but you don’t want to go overboard and make your home feel smaller than it really is by taking up too much floor space. Although the nutcrackers are lovely if you’re home isn’t on the market, I wouldn’t have them there if you were trying to get your home sold. Also…..don’t go over the top in your dining room with all of the holiday place settings and fine china, a simple center piece is all you need. When people are looking at your home, that’s what you want them doing…..looking at your home and not your holiday decor!
Try to keep the holiday decorations to the main rooms in your home, such as the great room, family room, dining room and kitchen if you’re showing your home during Christmas. I’ve seen some homes that have all of the bedrooms decorated beautifully, even the bathrooms! When this happens, all buyers are talking about is your decorations and when we leave they don’t even remember what THE HOUSE looked like……they were too caught up in your decorations.
